Château La Tour Carnet Red 2015

Grand Cru Classé in 1855, Haut-Médoc

"Medium purple, purplish. Juvenile, woody bouquet. With agitation, the fruit gains in fullness and accommodates its neighbors, I'd even say it surpasses them! (Notes of raspberry and cherry. Compact, lively and juicy attack. On the palate, the fruit is discreet but gains in intensity with each passing minute. The tannins are in symbiosis with the structure, lending balance to the palate. Fruity finish.

Notes and reviews

La Tour Carnet has a dark color with smoky notes on the nose. The wine is supple, elegant and nicely extracted, with no greenness. A success in a charming, accessible style that can be drunk relatively quickly. A charming wine made with a historic percentage of merlot. 70% merlot, 30% cabernet-sauvignon.

"La Tour Carnet 2015 is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit was chilled using a "cryogenic tunnel freezer", essentially spraying liquid nitrogen, and will be aged for 16 months in barrels, 30% of which are new. It has a very pure bouquet, to the point where there's something rather Pinot Noir-like here, with exuberant Morello cherry and subtly kirsch aromas. The oak is judicious and well integrated. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with supple tannins. Very smooth and harmonious on the palate, with well-balanced, precise and detailed acidity. It blossoms delicately on the finish, completing what I think is a very well-crafted, silky and seductive Haut-Médoc."

The 2015 vintage in the Haut-Médoc appellation was marked by ideal weather conditions, giving rise to red wines of exceptional quality. The winter was relatively mild, favoring a regular vegetative rest for the vines, and the spring that followed was warm and dry, creating perfect conditions for early and uniform flowering.

During the summer, the region experienced periods of heat, but the cool nights helped maintain a balanced natural acidity in the grapes, preserving the freshness and vivacity of the red wines. In addition, the moderate drought encouraged a concentration of aromas and flavors in the berries, contributing to the complexity of the wines.

Overall, the 2015 vintage is distinguished by red wines of great depth and structure, with supple, well-integrated tannins. This vintage offers wine lovers an exceptional taste experience, revealing all the character and finesse of the Haut-Médoc terroir. Thanks to favorable weather conditions, the winemakers were able to express all their know-how to produce elegant, well-balanced red wines, making the 2015 vintage a true jewel in the region's viticultural history.
