Tasting

"The Pape Clément 2021 presents notes of sweet berries and cherries mixed with rich aromas of espresso coffee, black truffles, toasty oak and loamy earth. Medium to full-bodied, deep and quite extracted in style, this is a rich, fleshy wine that gained in integration and harmony over the three weeks I spent in Bordeaux. Tasted three times.

The 2021 vintage in the prestigious Vineyard of Pessac-Léognan was marked by exceptional weather conditions. In spring, rainfall was well distributed, favoring even flowering and promising fruit set. The summer that followed was characterized by moderate temperatures, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and progressively. Cool nights preserved a balanced natural acidity, adding freshness and vivacity to the berries. In addition, controlled rainfall helped keep the vines healthy right up to harvest. Overall, these ideal climatic conditions produced wines of exceptional quality, characterized by elegant fruit expression and refined structure. The 2021 vintage is thus set to be a remarkable year for Pessac-Léognan, offering wine lovers a memorable oenological experience full of promise.
